What’s happened
Okay, so, I haven’t exactly been keeping up on here seeing as my last post was about two years ago. A lot has happened since then.
For starters I’m still happily unpublished. My books are going great and I’m still writing up a storm, but I haven’t had “getting them out there” as such a priority. They’ve always been more of a hobby than anything and something that I do for myself.
When my first book was finished I sent it off to four Literary Agencies and unfortunately got three no’s and one no response. The first “No,” felt like a punch in the gut. It was something that I really struggled to get over for a few weeks. It felt like it was something final. The end to a career that really hadn’t even started. Every writer thinks that their first book is the best thing in the entire world and that someone would be crazy to shoot them down, and that’s the trap that I fell into also, despite my best efforts. What I learned is that no one can give me a final answer. No one can tell me that my work isn’t good enough and there is always someone else who will say yes.
After that I decided to stop trying so hard to get someone to say yes. I’ve been a lot more productive this way. And everything happens in it’s own time.
There have been more unexciting things in my life but I’ll save the rest of my adventures for another time.
